When visiting an eye doctor in Colorado Springs, there are a few things you should expect to see and do. There are all kinds of tests that you might have to take, and each tells us something different about your eyes’ health.

Why Do I Need an Eye Exam?

It is very important to get an eye exam. An eye exam can determine if you have any eye problems and offers you the solutions needed to fix your vision. Getting a regular eye exam is also beneficial because it gives you a sense of security as far as your eye health. If you do not know how often you should have your eyes checked, fear not. We know these answers and can help you.

Your First Visit to Our Office

Your first visit is the most important. It is also possibly the longest visit you will have, so please schedule accordingly. During that visit, you will answer a few questions regarding your medical history and receive a comprehensive eye exam. During that eye exam, our doctor will likely have you cover one eye, read off the Snellen Chart, and repeat it for the second eye. The Snellen Chart is filled with different letters of the alphabet.

Some exams even include flashlights in one or both of your eyes just to check for cuts and scratches. (Slit-Lamp Examination) To learn more about the different testing eye doctors do, please ask. We love teaching you about your eyes!

If you are having any vision problems, it is essential to let your doctor know and make an appointment to come in and see us. If you wear prescription glasses or contacts, please bring them with you to your appointment.

After the exam, we will review the results of the tests with you and give you recommendations for eye protection. If the test came back stating that you might need new or updated glasses or contacts, we would then proceed to write the prescription for the glasses. Do not wait for something to happen to your eyes; click to schedule an appointment today to correct your vision for you and your loved ones.
